COMBAT SIXTEEN
KOMBAT SECHZEHN
Directed by Mirko Borscht
SUNDAY JANUARY 14 9:00PM CASTRO
Sixteen-year-old Georg, in moving to Frankfurt/Oder from Frankfurt/Main, finds himself radically uprooted: he has lost his friends, his chance at the local Taekwondo championship, and his mixed-race girlfriend. Now he is surrounded by right-wing cliques and racial violence and must find his own way, since his sister is fully absorbed in her art studies and his father, a single parent and architect, is fully immersed in, for him, the once-in-a-lifetime project responsible for the move—designing a new shopping mall. Gang leader Thomas, who for the first time senses a challenge to his authority in Georg’s warrior poise, sets about recruiting him, and the two face violent challenges in an environment whose deficits feed Neo-nazi extremism.
