PINGPONG
Matthias Luthardt
MONDAY JANUARY 15 7PM CASTRO
Sixteen-year-old Paul, whose father recently committed suicide, shows up unannounced at his uncle’s suburban house one summer day declaring his intention to stay for a while. This isn’t a family that enjoys discussing sensitive matters, so Uncle Stefan and Aunt Anna accept Paul with no questions asked. Paul makes himself useful by cleaning up the swimming pool. Anna’s frostiness thaws a bit towards Paul but she still ignores her own son Robert. When Uncle Stefan leaves on a business trip, Paul’s sexual attraction to his aunt grows bolder, but she appears not to notice. In order to avoid conversations or tasks, the boys head for the ping-pong table... - Courtesy of Film Festival Montreal
